About Open Source Medical Supplies
What is Open Source Medical Supplies?
Open Source Medical Supplies (OSMS) was founded in March 2020. We coordinated a global network of makers, fabricators, community organizers, and medical professionals who worked together to meet the unprecedented medical supply challenges stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic. Today, we continue that mission by curating open-source medical designs in our Project Library and supporting or leading numerous open-source humanitarian efforts. You can read more about OSMS on our About page.
Do You Make or Design Medical Supplies?
No, OSMS does not manufacture, brand, own, or design open source medical supplies. We support the research and communication of open-source medical supplies throughout all stages of development, often in partnership with the broader open-source and humanitarian response communities, and manually curate open-source medical designs in our Project Library. During times of social crisis, such as the COVID-19 pandemic or natural disasters, we support the use of open-source technology as a solution to supply chain gaps or other resource limitations. We encourage discussion of open source medical supply development in our Facebook group.
Can I Help Make Open Source Medical Supplies?
Is my donation to OSMS tax deductible in the United States?
Yes! All donations to OSMS are handled through RESOLVE, a 501(c)(3) organization. When donating through RESOLVE, please make sure to indicate your donation is for Open Source Medical Supplies – and thank you so much for supporting our cause!
About OSMS Local Response
What is OSMS Local Response?
In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic interrupted medical supply chains across the globe. In response, makers and manufacturers collaborated to design and fabricate PPE and other essential supplies for healthcare needs in their local communities. The early OSMS Local Response supported these efforts by organizing, guiding, elevating, and documenting them. Read more about it here.
