June 16 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Producing open source medical supplies is not only a tremendous engineering and community organizing task, but also a business challenge. Join this mini-workshop and discussion with two makerspace leaders about strategies for designing your PPE business plan.
We will cover:
• How to balance a social good mission and volunteer distributed manufacturing effort while selling PPE
• How to calculate costs and determine pricing
Will Holman is founder and executive director of OpenWorks makerspace in Baltimore. OpenWorks has been very active in medical supply production, and is charging for products as well as producing for donations. OSMS founder Gui Cavalcanti founded Artisan’s Asylum, a large makerspace in Somerville, MA; was CEO of Breeze Robotics; and taught a similar workshop on business planning at Olin College.
